FUNDRAISING UPDATES AS OF 9/17/06
Thanks to everyone who endured Saturday to bake or work at ValuMarket and Walgreens. We raised $353.48 between the two locations.
Time is growing short for us on fundraising for this season. We are scheduled at ValuMarket on Saturday, 09/30 from 10a-4pm. We need your help to make this a huge success! We are also participating in the Community Festival at ValuMarket on Saturday, 10/14. This is an all day (from noon to 9 pm) so we need lots of people to help all day long. Unless anyone has other ideas, we are planning a duck pond, a putting green, and possibly a cornhole toss game. We are also gathering items for a raffle. If you have any items you can donate toward the raffle, or know someone (such as a business, etc) that can donate items, we would love to have them. We need to finalize items for the raffle by Tuesday, 9/26. That gives me time to create fliers and tickets to begin preselling to our family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else you don't know. The drawings will be held at the end of the evening at the Community Festival.
We are also planning another Texas Hold Em tournament. I will have more information by the end of the week on the exact date, time and location.
These are the final attempts at fundraising for this season. If you have not had the opportunity to work at ANY other fundraiser, then please make time on your schedule to contribute. I have seen a lot of the same faces at previous events and it is time for everyone to pitch in to help out. All it takes it a few hours of your time; please mark a time block on your calendars NOW in preparation for the upcoming fundraising events.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks - Yvette.

Where are we on our total for fundraising for the banquet? How much do we need to raise? How did Texas Hold'em do?

I think a 50/50 drawing may generate some interest what do you think.

Guys, I know you have questions and some are valid, but realize this is a volunteer effort and we have lots of other things to take care of in our everyday lives. I will respond to your questions as soon as possible.

Hello Cheer Parents - We have fundraised $1884.40 to date. Last year the banquet was about $2,500 which included hall rental, decorations, gifts, food, cake and drinks for 36 girls and their families. We have 42 girls between the two squads so we will need more money this year.
We have covered the cost of the tank tops and shorts with some of this money. Yvette and I have decided to split the cost with parents and only ask for half of the money and we will cover the shipping costs.
Please realize the coaching and director positions are volunteer. Yvette and Michele have lives outside of cheerleading. Directing and coaching for this organization is a big committment and takes an extreme amount of time away from your family and daily life.
Please be patient with as they are trying to make decisions and overcome some of the obstacles that have popped up. Let's make this an enjoyable season for everyone involved.

Our hats off to all the volunteers. . . We realize the time it takes to do what you are doing. Thank you for the information on the banquet and the fundraisers, a little information goes a long way when you don't know what is going on money wise or how far we are from our goal. Thanks too to all the parents who are active in the fundraising--I am sure al the girls appreciate you, too.

I also think that Michelle, Yvette, and Tammy have done a good job, given the amount of time and effort it takes to coach/teach our children. I thought when we met in February, we decided to spread the responsibilities among the cheer parents. There were several parents who offered to coordinate fundraising, uniforms, spirit activities, treasury, etc. For some reason it seems very few of those responsibilities were actually assigned. I think most of the parents are very willing to help out and alleviate the extra work involved with making this a great year. I also think that given the amount of time, effort and money the parents put in, we deserve to know how the fundraising efforts are going. It's not too much to ask for an update nearly a month after an event took place. Additionally, we need to understand what monies we will need to raise in order to provide a banquet our children deserve. I think receiving periodic account statements is very helpful in that respect. Tammy did a terrific job of providing that level of information last year. Many of us, including those who are directing and coaching, have budgets. Knowing where we stand helps us to plan accordingly. As far as splitting the cost of the tanks and shorts, it sounds like we paid for it all. Whether it came directly from our pocketbooks or from the general fund, it's money most of us helped raise.
