UPCOMING DATES & OTHER IMPORTANT INFO!

If you haven't completed sign-ups yet, we will be at Fern Creek Park on July 8 from 10am to 2 pm. We will be in the meeting room behind the Pavilion.

There is also a parent meeting on Sunday, July 9 at 2 pm at Fern Creek Park. Our uniform & shoe vendors will also be there to fit the cheerleaders who didn't get fitted on 6/20. This is the last opportunity for uniform fittings and any deposits still due for the uniforms. The order must be turned in on Monday, July 10 so we can have our uniforms in time for the first competition.

The parent meeting will include information about the upcoming season and provide an opportunity for questions and answers. We will also discuss the invitation we have received from Vanderbilt University in Nashville to perform an exhibition at the Vandy vs. Florida SEC football game on November 4. This is optional for cheerleaders to participate in - more information at the parent meeting!

See everyone soon - Yvette.

PRETZEL & CINNAMON ROLL FUNDRAISER!

Leigh has order forms for the Auntie Annie's Pretzels & Cinnamon Roll Kits! She will be at Wildcard on Thursday, 6/22 so get your order form tomorrow! Think of everyone you can approach to sell to. I think this will be really fun and easy for kids to do themselves - a great way to introduce them to preparing food and baking, especially over the summer!

Details of the fundraiser:
The pretzel kits includes 10 pretzels, with salt & cinnamon sugar so take your pick.
The cinnamon kits includes 8 rolls, with icing.
Both kits are dry mixes so no worries about refrigeration. Both kits retail for $16.00 each, and we make $8.00 for each kit sold. This will be an individual fundraiser.
Collect payment at the time of the order. Cash or checks are acceptable; checks should be made payable to Fern Creek Optimist. The order forms and monies are due back to Leigh by July 10. The products will be shipped 7-14 days after placing the order.

Our team goal is for each participant to sell a minimum of 12-18 kits. We must have a minimum order of 60 kits but I am more than confident that we can do better than that! Go through your address book, ask your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, church families. Since our profit is $8.00 each, this is a great opportunity with the potential of generating lots of $$$!
Please let me or Leigh know if you have any questions. - Yvette.

FUNDRAISING EFFORTS!

Thanks to everyone for the hard work and your time on Saturday at ValuMarket! We raised a whopping $332.41! This fundraiser is going toward our general fund expenses. Kudos to parents and the cheerleaders!

Mark your calendars! We have also scheduled a Pancake Breakfast at Applebee's in Fern Creek on Saturday, August 5. I will have more details for you in a few days as well as the tickets to pre-sell to your family, friends, and just about anyone else!

Leigh is also putting together together other individual fundraisers. We should have information available soon on:
  • Home Interiors - always a crowd pleaser. Plan early! - Think about the people you can purchase candles for too - stocking stuffers & presents for teachers at Christmas, birthdays, Sunday school teachers, and family members
  • Auntie Annie's Pretzels & Cinnamon Rolls - Kits made of dry mix (no refrigeration needed- yeah!). Great ideas and easy too for kids to make and bake, or another great gift idea!

There's more fundraising plan and ideas to come but we want your input too! Let us know if you have any suggestions, particularly any unusual or speciality ideas!

I am extremely excited about the season - what a great way to start the season with a fantastic day at ValuMarket!

Other info: I will not be at Wildcard Thursday, 6/22 and will be in Florida 6/24 thru 7/1. I will still have my cell phone so you always welcome to call with any questions. If I don't see you Tuesday, 6/20 at uniform fittings - see you when I get back! - Yvette.

Hello Cheer Parents - Just a quick reminder that the uniform fitting will be on June 20th @ 6:00pm at Wildcard. Please have your child wear a tank top and shorts and bring last years socks to try on shoes with.

Let me know if you are available! If you can't make it, but have other family members who are willing to volunteer their time - then please recruit them! We welcome all able-bodied persons!

FUNDRAISING JUNE 17 AT VALUMARKET

Valumarket has reserved June 17 from 10 am to 4 pm for bagging groceries. We need parents and cheerleaders! If you have any free time and can volunteer, please contact Yvette or Leigh to let us know a time slot. We hope to see lots of faces!

Leigh is already working on information for more fundraisers but we are also looking for other ideas. If you have any ideas or have contacts with candle people, candy, etc - we need your input! The season will be here before any of us realize it and I know all of us would like to limit our out-of-pocket expenses! Please contact Yvette, Leigh, or Tammy with your suggestions and ideas.

Thanks for your cooperation. See you soon - Yvette.

UPDATED INFORMATION

GREAT NEWS----Yvette Broadway has volunteered to become the new director!!! Yvette is detail oriented, an organizer, has a passion for cheerleading and your girls, please help me in welcoming her as director (co-director for this year). She is hard at work helping me with decisions and plans for the upcoming season. We sat down with Michele and ironed out last minute details about uniforms, hairpieces and participation at football games.

Yvette has a wonderful idea for a fundraiser-a Texas Hold'em Tournament. Kent Vincent (Courtney and Gabby's dad) is helping her. They are looking for a space to have the tournament, if anyone knows of space available, please let one of them know.

If you have e-mail address, please make sure that Yvette has it!

The uniform company is going to be at Wildcard on June 20th to size the girls-please make every attempt to have your child there! We are working on a tight schedule with uniforms getting here for the first competition-we want to have as many girls that are already committed to the squad fitted before sign-ups.

I am going to try to have sign-up forms there on the 20th to make it more convenient for the parents and they won't have to worry about July 8th. I will let you know how much the sign-up fee is as soon as I get with FCO president and treasurer.

We have more info on the way so please check the blogspot!

Thanks-

Tammy
