IMPORTANT UPDATES AS OF 8/22/06
Cheer Parents -
We will NOT have a Friday night practice at Wildcard. As noted on the last post, we will have practice Saturday, 8/26 at 4:00 until ??? - location is at Wildcard. This will be our last practice prior to our first competition! The girls have been working really hard and their routines are coming together beautifully.
Our competition is still unknown as of Tuesday but should be published by NCA on Wednesday. I will update the blog with that info tomorrow. Once we have the times, we can plan for a caravan from one central place into the Fairgrounds, if anyone is interested. I will have parking directions, maps, etc on Saturday for everyone. For the competition on Sunday, the girls should wear their hairpieces and mascara only (waterproof please!). We are not doing elaborate makeup in case everyone wants to spend time on the Midway that day. No jewelry and no fingernail polish for the competition. The hairbows will be distributed on Saturday.
I should have the tanks, shorts, socks & shoes Thursday night at Wildcard. We will have a "Match the clothes to the girls" party while we're there for Tumbling! If you are not able to attend, please contact me so I can make arrangements for you. The girls will also wear the tanks/shorts to the game on Saturday.
Remember - we also have our first game at Fern Creek Stadium Saturday at 1:00 pm. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. The football team has asked that we have a banner for the football players to run through.
The Texas Hold Em has been rescheduled for Thursday, 8/31 at 7:00 pm at Mt. Washington Bowling Alley. Food and drinks will be provided. If you have any card playing, poker-loving friends, now is the time to encourage them to support our team. I also need 4 people to help with serving food and working the money & poker chips. Please let me know if you can help.
We have bagging groceries scheduled for Sunday, 9/03 at ValuMarket. I know it's a holiday weekend but I took the date because it was available on their calendar. The only other date we have scheduled at ValuMarket is Saturday, 9/30 and there are no more dates available. If we can't get enough volunteers for Sunday, 9/03 I will contact ValuMarket to free the date for the next team on their waiting list. Please let me know by Thursday, 8/31 if you are able to work any hours.
There is still time to order the polo/T-shirts. Our supplier/embroiderer is leaving for vacation this Friday and therefore we will have to wait until her return to get the shirts done. I will have the sizing samples with me through next week so please let me know if you would like to order any apparel.
Let me know if you have any questions - thanks, Yvette.

Vanderbilt Exhibition Info
I have more info about the Saturday, 11/4, cheerleading exhibition. The exhibition is in Nashville for the Vandy vs. Florida game.
Cheerleaders are $10 each. They get a t-shirt, lunch and admission. Tickets are $20 each for parents, siblings and any other family/friends.
The game time is still unknown at this time. However, the cheerleaders will have a practice at Vandy the morning of the game.
Participation is optional for this exhibition. The girls will learn a different routine; the actual routine will be sent to us once we have paid the entry fees to indicate how many girls will be performing in the routine.
Unfortunately, we have not been given much time to RSVP for this event. We need to turn in our entire ticket order at once so I need to know who is participating and the number of additional tickets for parents, siblings, etc. If you would like to use your individual fundraising money, please let me know. Otherwise, checks should be made payable to Tammy Albers.
We have to finalize our attendance numbers by the end of the week so please let me know your plans to attend and make payments by Thursday, 8/17.
If you plan on staying overnight, you will need to make your own hotel reservations. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks- Yvette.
Thanks - Yvette.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR ALL!!!
Parents, We have a lot going on so I'm covering a lot of information in this post.
ACCOUNT UPDATES:
Please try to stick around at the start of Tuesday, 8/16 practice. I should have updates to everyone's accounts and need to verify balances with each of you. Final payments for uniforms, shoes, bodysuits, bloomers, & socks are due this week. Merchandise will not be shipped to us unless the vendors have been paid in full prior to delivery.
JAMFEST
Also, JamFest fees are also due this week. The entry fee for the 9/23 competition increased by $5 this year; the entry fee is $59 per cheerleader, if received by JamFest by 8/21/06 so we must send our payment in this week! A late penalty fee will be added to each girl's entry fee if we do not pay by the deadline date.
PRACTICE
I have other updates to make to the previous post of practice schedule changes. We will have another practice on Sunday, 8/20 from 2-4 pm at the park. Also, on Friday, 8/25 our time will be adjusted at Wildcard to 6-8 pm.
TEXAS HOLD EM
Don't forget this Saturday, 8/19 is the tournament from 3-7 pm at TK's Pub. This is a huge opportunity for us to generate monies for our fundraising! There is a lot of preparation for this event so if you know of anyone who plans to play, please let me or Kent Vincent know ASAP. We must have enough poker chips and cards for each table and player, which means we may need to buy additional supplies. We also have to buy food, snacks, soft drinks, plates, napkins etc based on the number of players. The actual table setup for the tournament will also be determined by the number of players. I also need assistance with setup and hosting the event on Saturday. Please let me know ASAP if you can help!
OTHER FUNDRAISING NEWS:
We raised $179.37 for the general fundraising at ValuMarket bagging groceries on Saturday, 8/12. Thanks so all who participated.
The Applebee's breakfast fundraiser overall generated @$866; each parents' totals will be added to their individual accounts.
Leigh Sweeney will have information Tuesday, 8/15 on Home Interior candles for individual fundraising. If you are interested, please pick up a brochure and order forms. The deadline date for this fundraiser is unknown at this time and will be communicated to you later this week.
I hope that's enough info for everyone right now- if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thanks - Yvette.

Make plans for Texas Hold Em Saturday, 8/19!!
Hello Cheer Parents!
The Texas Hold Em is only 2 weeks away and we need confirmed players! This is a huge opportunity for us to generate $$$ to offset expenses. But the only way it can happen is if ALL OF US work to inform our family, friends, and co-workers about the tournament. This is a very popular game and it should be easy to find people who would like to play AND help our team at the same time.
If we still have seats available, we will take walk-ins at 3:00. However, it is to our advantage to know how many people to expect for the tournament. The number of players will determine the rules of the game and the prize levels. We are also providing food/beverages so I don't want to under or overestimate how much to purchase; and we need workers for the tournament.
I have created tickets to distribute to those of you who are interested. As you are talking to your family, friends, and co-workers, you can sell them a seat at the tournament with a $10 deposit. That will help offset our initial expenses for food & misc items (such chips, cards, etc). I already have the tickets so please let me know if you need them.
If you have any questions please let me know so I can help and we can make this fundraising opportunity a huge success! For specific questions on the game itself, I will refer you to Kent Vincent and will be glad to put you in touch with him. As always - thanks, Yvette.
