What a GREAT DAY!!!

Thank you girls for all the hard work at practice it paid off today! I am so proud of all of you.

Thanks to all the parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/friends who came out and supported us today. There wasn't a spirit award given out today, but I don't think there was a doubt who won for the most spirit today. GO FERN CREEK!!!

BAKE SALE

Sydney had a little TOO much SUGAR!!
Hello Cheer Parents-Saturday was the bake sale and we made $284.55. I found out after the money was counted that the matching funds program was on hold. I was not happy they didn't disclose this before we started. I am PLEASED with $284.55, but I was expecting it to be doubled!

Hello Cheer Parents-
GO PEE-WEES! I am so proud of how hard you all have worked in the last couple of days! I am sorry it took me so long to get this post on. A big THANKS to Shannon and Diane.

Sara did a great job on the routine. The girls looked adorable at practice on Friday night.







Tomorrow is COMPETITION DAY, I hope everyone just has FUN!! James has the signs and noisemakers ready and I packed the water and snacks tonight.

The competition times have already changed!! The junior team will perform at 2:55 pm and the pee-wee team will perform at 3:35 pm.

*KY STATE FAIR INFO*

HELLO CHEER PARENTS-

We will meet at Valu City on Preston Highway @ 10:00 am, Sunday Morning. Please bring your child completely ready! Please have their hair fixed with shoes and uniform on. We will caravan together!

Once we check in for the competition, you will not be allowed to stay with your child because of security reasons. I know some of you may not be happy about this! It is for your childs protection. Only coaches and directors are allowed back in the dressing rooms and the practice area.

Please make sure your child eats breakfast before coming. We will provide water and snacks for the girls before their practice and after.

If you are inviting relatives to see your child perform, Gate 6 off Preston Highway is the best gate to enter. Park in Lot J near the stadium. The Junior team will perform at 2:35, and the Pee-Wees will perform at 3:10. I would plan on being there at least an hour before they compete, in case there is a change of order.

There is no videotaping allowed at the competition.

You/Your family will need to pay admission to the fair and $5.00 for parking. The cheerleaders receive free admission to the fair. We will pass out tickets on Sunday morning.

Tonight is going to be a busy night! I will pass out the uniforms, accesories and shoes and collect candle order forms. A parent MUST pick up the uniform! If you have not paid, please be ready to discuss payment at the time of pick up.

FUNDRAISER UPDATES

Hello Cheer Parents-

I am sorry for any confusion on the candles. I thought their was a letter in the flyer I passed out that explained about sales tax, shipping and who to make the checks payable to. MY BAD!!

There is NO SALES TAX OR SHIPPING CHARGES! People need to make the checks out to you (if possible). I would like one check to cover your order (if possible). If this creates a problem in any way, please let me know we will work it out.

REMEMBER THE ORDER IS DUE ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 25TH. Mayshell will place the order on Friday, August 26th and it will be delivered TWO WEEKS FROM THAT DATE.

I finally received the Scratch and Help Cards! I will have them on Tuesday @ practice.

Hello Cheer Parents-

Tonight I am sorting out money, writing receipts and applying amounts to each individual account. I caught a mistake that I made on an account. The mother questioned me about the amount owed on Thursday and I have been double-checking everything against my receipt book.

PLEASE-- it is YOUR money, if you don't agree--ASK ME ABOUT IT. I am human and I am taking care of 38 different cheerleader accounts, I try to be as exact as I can be about everything I write on the receipt book.

I will be at the park for PeeWee practice tomorrow for awhile and then I will leave to go to Wildcard for the rest of the Junior practice.

BAKE SALE UPDATES

HELLO CHEER PARENTS-

I have been working on setting up bake sales for the banquet. These are the ones that we have set up so far.....

August 27th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm @ Wal-Mart in Fern Creek

September 10th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm @ Kroger in Fern Creek

September 17th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm @ Wal-Mart in Fern Creek

Let me know if you will be available to work on any of those days. I would like to have 3 cheerleaders (in uniform) and parents at each bake sale. I will also need people to volunteer to bake items.

The bows are finished and I will begin passing them out on Thursday. I am hoping to have the uniforms by this weekend, if not the girls will need to a white or orange shirt with dark shorts to the game on Saturday.

AUGUST 25TH is the deadline for Candle Sales. Your money and order forms need to be turned in on that date.

THE UNIFORMS HAVE ARRIVED!!!

They were delivered yesterday and Judy is going to start adding tigers to the shell and the paw print on the skirt!!! We definately will have them for competition. GO FERN CREEK!!

The scratch-n-help cards were not delivered on Thursday, hopefully they will be delivered tomorrow. I passed out candle order forms if you missed it and want one. The candle order forms and money is due on AUGUST 25TH.

I just realized today that I forgot to order the Pom-Poms! I will place the order tomorrow!

Please don't forget $55-JAMFEST money is due on Tuesday.

--TEAM WORK--

Hello Cheer Parents-----
The Pee-Wees are really getting into the movements. I really appreciate the returning cheerleaders from last year helping the new cheerleaders with the words and motions.
GREAT TEAM WORK GIRLS!!! Mr. James said you girls worked really hard for him. He really enjoyed it a lot! He is working on the SPIRIT TEAM for Competitions! I know Coach Sarah is going to be proud of how hard you girls have been working while she has been gone.

Next week, all cheerleaders need to come to practice with their listening ears on!! Sarah is going to be working HARD with you to finish up the competition cheer and dance. I know you girls can do it! Remember to practice at home-PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND MORE PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!! I know things are going to get a little more hectic with school starting on August 16th.

APOLOGY

Hello Cheer Parents-

First, let me start by saying I am SORRY to any parent whose child overheard a discussion between myself and some of the PeeWee parents.

When you signed your child up for cheerleading you were given a paper with a breakdown of the estimated fees involved with cheerleading for Fern Creek Optimist. I am sorry if some of you thought the competitions were optional. I STAND BEHIND THAT I MADE IT CLEAR THAT THESE WERE THE COMPETITIONS WE WERE COMMITTED TO. I discussed the fees and competitions at the first meeting.

The coaches do this for FREE!! I do not think it is fair or reasonable to ask them to make up several different routines based on who wants to do what competition.

PARENTS OF PEEWEE AND JR CHEERLEADERS-please feel free to come to me if there is a problem, Fern Creek Park is big enough that we can find somewhere away from the children to discuss any problems or concerns. I WILL NOT HAVE A DEBATE OR DISCUSSION EVER AGAIN IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN.

If you have not made a deposit on your uniform, please see me on Thursday night.

I know I am a new director and I am trying my best to keep you informed of what is going on.

AUGUST 16TH JAMFEST COMPETITION MONEY IS DUE...$55 FOR EACH CHILD.

FUNDRAISING WEEKEND

Hello Cheer Parents-This was a busy weekend for fundraising! We started working on the banquet and individual fundraisers. We had a bake sale at Valu Market during their Community Festival and made $71 towards the banquet. HUGE THANKS to the following people....Yvette, Tim and Sydney Broadway, Michelle Pelton, Penny and Courtney Vincent, Teela Hardin, Kelly and Jessica DeSpain, Marie Miller and Denise Sulzer for providing the baked goods. Thank you for supporting your cheerleaders!


Sunday morning some of the cheerleaders bagged groceries at Valu-Market and made $157.50 (yeah) to split between their individual accounts.

I passed out candy bars on Friday at Wildcard to the Jrs. parents. I will bring candy bars for the Pee Wee's practice on Tuesday. Hopefully, the Home Interior representative will give me the candle order forms tomorrow and I can bring them also.

**WHAT A DAY**

Hello-Cheer Parents

First, let me start by saying a huge THANK YOU! I really appreciate everyone getting their deposits in and making it as easy as it has been. I am really looking forward to this year. We have great cheerleaders that have returned and some really promising new ones. Watch out-here we come for competitions!

The Candy Bars were deliverred and I lugged home from work 4 huge dry-iced coolers with 20 cases of candy bars! My husband says he didn't sign up for manual labor!! I told him it was all part of being the husband of a director of cheerleading. RAH RAH.

Valu-Market called me about 4:45pm and asked if we could bag groceries on Sunday! The time is 11:00-2:30 pm. The Jrs. team has practice at Fern Creek Park at 3:00 pm. I am going to see the Jrs. team t0night at Wildcard. If any Pee-Wee parent/child wants to bag on Sunday, call my cell phone and let me know. We will probably need about 6 parents/children.

I am getting Posterboard to make some signs for the BAKE SALE and Sunday when people are bagging groceries. JUST A REMINDER-THE BAKE SALE PROFITS WILL GO TOWARD THE BANQUET! BAGGING GROCERIES ON SUNDAY WILL GO TO THE INDIVIDUAL CHILDS ACCOUNT.

BUSY DAY

hello cheer parents-i have had a busy day on the phone! i have ordered the candy bars, scratch and help cards and the UNIFORMS!!!!!!

i am contacting metro parks to find out if i can get a key for the bathrooms. i told them the bathrooms do no good if they are locked. i am a little worried about where to fit the girls for bodysuits! i am going to bring sheets and hopefully with the help of some parents we can make a makeshift dressing room. i am trying!!!!

tomorrow at practice i am going to bring my camera so start expecting to see some pictures posted.

BAKE SALE!!!

Hello to everyone!!! Saturday we have been given the opportunity to participate in Valu-Market's Community Festival. We are going to have a bake sale! We need baked goods!!
Jr. Cheerleaders who are coming to Wildcard on Friday night can bring them then. Pee-Wee Cheerleaders we will need them delivered to Valu-Market on Outer Loop Saturday around 10:15 am.

The time slots to work are from 10:00 am-1 pm and 1pm-4pm. I need volunteers to help!
Michelle Pelton (Jrs.) is going to work from 10:00-1:00 and I am going to work from 1:00-4:00. We would like to have at least 2 more adults each time and children to help.

The girls can wear the Cheerleader shirts from last year (orange or white) and black shorts. If you don't have a shirt from last year, just wear a white or orange shirt and black shorts.
