Thanks to everyone who helped with the Bake Sale on Sat, 7/29, bakers and workers alike! Although we have never done this at some place other than a grocery store, I am VERY pleased to say we raised $207.70. We were there from 10am -2pm and it stayed busy! Everyone at Walgreens was extremely nice and helpful so we should try this location again. - Yvette.

T-SHIRTS FOR PARENTS & MISC INFO
Parents, many of you, including myself, are interested in purchasing t-shirts this year. I need to know who is interested in getting shirts. We can screen print or embroidery - keep in mind embroidery will add additional costs to each shirt. Also, if you want your shirt customized with "Sydney's mom", it will also add more to the cost. I would also like some ideas of what to put on them such as: "Fern Creek Cheerleading", "Fern Creek Optimist", "Fern Creek Tigers", etc. I personally like identifying ourselves as Fern Creek Cheerleading! If we want these shirts prior to our first competition - we have to move fast! I will also talk about this at practice 7/27 & 7/28.
I also want to say how proud I am of how far the squad has already come in just a few short practices! They look really good and ALL of them should be extremely proud of themselves! A BIIIIGGGG pat on the back to each of you! Thank you to each parent and family member who is giving up their time to support the girls' efforts!
Housekeeping issues:
Don't forget the remaining monies are due by Tuesday, 8/01/2006 for the uniform and shoe orders. Checks should be made payable to Tammy Albers. If you haven't paid Wildcard yet, please do so by this Friday, 7/28 - checks should be made payable to Wildcard and I can collect those for you Friday night during practice.
Fundraising:
How are your ticket sales for the Pancake breakfast!??? Remember, ticket sales go toward your individual accounts. I have to give Applebee's an anticipated # of attendance by Wednesday, 8/2 so they can make their own staffing and supply plans. So, on Tuesday, 8/1 - I need to know how many you've sold! I am praying ALL of you will say "I've sold them all!!!" I want to see a great turnout on behalf of our Cheerleaders and show Fern Creek Applebee's what great fans we have!
I also need volunteers to work at Applebee's that morning. We need door greeters, servers, table bussers! Please let me know if you can help out.
Many of you have already signed up for bagging groceries at ValuMarket on Saturday, 8/12. Please see Leigh or myself to volunteer.
BIG News!!
We have scheduled a Texas Hold Em tournament for Saturday, 8/19 from 3p to 7p, at TK's Pub & Grill. I will have more information for you in the next couple of days but start calling all your friends and family who LOVE to play this game so they can mark their calendars!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I also want to remind everyone that I cannot typically take phone calls during the day. Although I do keep my cell phone on for emergencies, please try to hold your questions until the evenings. If I don't answer my cell or house #, you can always leave a message so I can listen to your question at the first opportunity. I also typically check the blogspot as soon as I get home (except on practice nights) and can read any questions posted thru the comments link. Thanks - Yvette.

REMINDER - NEED OLD UNIFORMS NOW!
Parents, If you want to sell your old uniform, please bring it to me by Friday, 7/28. I only have 10 uniforms so far - it seemed that more families than that indicated you wanted to sell the old uniform. I have to move quickly on sizing and ordering new uniforms for the non-competitive team which means they will need to order by next week. Thanks - Yvette.

FUNDRAISING INFO - PLEASE READ!
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Car Wash on Saturday, 7/15. A BIG thanks to Big-O Tires on Fegenbush Lane for giving us room, and to Pep Boys and Lowe's for the donations of buckets, soap, hoses, and sponges! We raised $189.00 for this general fund fundraiser.
Bagging Groceries: We have another date of bagging groceries at ValuMarket scheduled for August 12 from 10a-4p. Leigh has already recruited many volunteers but there's still room! Please see Leigh or Yvette to volunteer some of your time. We have more dates at ValuMarket for us on Sunday, 09/03 (yes it's Labor Day weekend but they should be REALLY busy!) and Saturday, 09/30. Their calendar fills up very quickly with bookings to bag groceries so we need to take any available dates we can!
Bake Sale: Walgreens has agreed to let us hold a bake sale. I am open to Saturday, July 29 if we can get some parents to make some yummy treats and help us out for a few hours. We are also contacting Kroger to see if we can get a date there and I will keep you posted on the progress.
Individual Fundraising: The Auntie Annie's fundraising did kind of OK but I doubt we will attempt that one again.
We will have a fundraiser later in August with Home Interior Candles so be thinking of who your potential buyers are. Also don't forget your own shopping list - prepare early for Christmas gifts for teachers, friends, sunday school teachers, day care workers., gift exchange with Bunco or at work, etc. The possibilities are endless. This is a great way to spend the same amount you would on another gift anyway - but raise money toward your individual fundraising account too!
Don't forget the Pancake breakfast at Applebee's on Saturday August 5, from 8am - 10am. Tickets are $5.00 each. Breakfast includes pancakes and beverages. We need to fill the restaurant so I'd like to see ALL of the tickets sold in advance! I still have more tickets so please see me to get more.
All of your monies for the sold tickets needs to be turned in to me so we can pay Applebee's for the # of tickets sold and put your remaining profit into your individual fundraising account.
As always, if you have any fundraising ideas, please let me know. We try to make this as exciting as possible but I know it can also be trying too! I know I am hitting everyone hard right now with fundraising but there is a purpose. I realize once school starts and our actual season begins, it will become increasingly difficult to have a good turnout with volunteers. I also know we will be competing with fundraising efforts by other sports programs and your child's school within just a few weeks so I am trying to beat everyone else to the punch and get those dollars for you and our girls!
Don't forget about selling your old uniform. Please bring your uniform (if possible with each piece labeled or in a bag to be labeled) to me at the next practice so I can have it for the non-competitive cheerleaders to try on next week.
Thanks for everyone's help - Yvette.

Ordering Hairpieces - SEE ME ASAP!
If you plan on ordering a new hairpiece for this season, please see me ASAP. We need to place our order. I will also need to collect payment from everyone who orders. Checks can be made payable to Yvette Broadway. The teen spiral is $17.99 and the youth spiral is $19.99, plus the cost of shipping. I can give you the actual cost per person once the order is finalized so shipping is included. Thaks - Yvette.

Selling old uniforms
As we mentioned during the parent meeting, it is our intention for the non-competitive team to use the same uniform style from last year. If you would like to sell your uniform, please get your pieces together. I will need to know which pieces you have and the sizes available. I will also need some uniforms in advance so we can use those to size the new cheerleaders on the non-competitive teams. Drop me an email, use the comments to this post, call me or see me at any of the upcoming practices to advise what sizes and pieces you have. I will coordinate the sell of your uniforms - we will be working with the new team members over the next several weeks to hopefully find a used uniform they can use for the season and turn over some cash to you! Please let me know so I can create a list of potential sellers. Thanks - Yvette.
CAR WASH FUNDRAISING
We will have a CAR WASH this Saturday, July 15 from 9am to 2 pm at the Big-O Tires, at the corner of Fegenbush Lane and Beulah Church Rd. We need all available parents to bring on their elbow grease and be prepared to get a little wet! We also need cheerleaders to help with the carwash - we will also have signs they can hold up to attract attention of the passing cars! Please see Leigh Sweeney or Yvette to let us know what hours you can help out. Even an hour or two will be a huge help to making this a success. This fundraiser is for the general fund.

FERN CREEK TIGERS
Hello All - There was some discussion Thursday night that we were considering changing our affiliation to another organization. Yvette and I had a long discussion Thursday night with the President of Fern Creek Optimist leading to the decision to keep the cheerleading program at Fern Creek. We contacted Michele after talking to him and Michele will also stay at Fern Creek this year. We will discuss more about this at the parent meeting.
Thanks
Tammy and Yvette
