Hello Cheer Parents! I have several informational items listed below.

Practice schedule:
Wed, Nov 1 at Wildcard 6:30 – 8:30 Wed, Nov 8 at Wildcard 6:30 – 8:30
Friday, Nov 17 at Wildcard 6:30 – 8:30 Wed, Nov 29 at Wildcard 6:30 – 8:30

Cheer Power – this weekend in Columbus (Columbus is on the same time as Louisville)
Our practice time is 2:00 pm and we perform at 2:30 pm. I will have more info later on the times we need to assemble for makeup and leave the hotel to the convention center. Parking may be a challenge Saturday; there is a large group of Ohio students taking a ACT test at the Convention Center in the morning and then Ohio State University has a home game scheduled at 3:30 pm.

JamFest and St. Rita:
Our on-time registration fees of $118 are due by Friday, Nov 3. Because of the significant total amount of this registration fee (21 girls x$118=$2478), I will need everyone to pay their fees before Nov 3. I do not have enough available funds to advance pay this large of an amount on behalf of the team. If we are unable to register by Friday, Nov 3, we will incur a $5 per participant late fee, which will now bring the amount due to $123 per participant. We will compete Friday, 11/10 at St. Rita instead of the originally planned Lexington competition. The St. Rita competition is $2.50 per participant.

Account Balances:
If you have a balance on your account, all amounts must be paid in full by Nov 3, including the JamFest and St. Rita registration amounts. We need available funds to pay for banquet expenses, which must be paid up front and purchase necessary items prior to the banquet.

Wildcard:
All account balances for our gym rental fees must be paid in full to Wildcard by Wed, Nov 1. This includes any amounts due for the previous installments and our final installment amount due which is $30. This will bring our total paid to Wildcard to $90 for all of gym rental sessions. Before we started practice in July, we had calculated $80 per girl for gym time; however, additional sessions were added later to the schedule which changes the amount due to $90.

Banquet:
The banquet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov 18 from 6 pm – 10 pm at Fern Creek High School cafeteria. I will have invitations to each of you this week. We will need RSVP’s by Friday, Nov 3 so we can plan appropriately for the catering needs.

Vanderbilt vs. Florida game: (at Vanderbilt University)
The game time has been moved to 11:30 am CDT and has been picked up for television coverage. This means we must be at Vandy to register by 6:30 am CDT and practice will start no later than 7:30 am. CDT is one (1) hour behind Louisville time. I would also ask if you could give me at least one ticket stub from your family for a special surprise. I will distribute tickets and maps/information to you at the 11/01 practice.

Photos:
If you have any photos from this season – we need them! Save them on a CD and I will return them when we are finished with another special surprise!

We have a very busy month ahead of us and we will not be at practices as frequently as before so check the blog spot often! If you have any questions, be sure to call me. Please remember that I cannot take cell phone calls at work - try to hold that thought or question until after work or leave a message on my home phone during the day. Messages can also be left on my cell phone number and I will return them once I can retrieve them.

Directions to the hotel from Louisville:
From Louisville, take I-71 North toward Columbus, OH.
As you enter the metro Columbus area, take the Grove City Exit 100, onto Stringtown Rd.
Turn Left onto Stringtown Road, go .3 miles to hotel. It is approximately 210 miles from Fern Creek to the hotel; anticipate 3 ½ - 4 hours traveling time.

Directions from the hotel to the Columbus Convention Center:
Take I-71 North toward Columbus. Keep left to take OH-315 North toward Dayton.
Merge onto I-670 East. Take the US-23 exit – Exit 4 toward Fourth St/Third St/High St.
Take US-23 North Exit 4B toward Fourth Street.
Turn Right onto Goodale Street. Turn Left onto High Street.

Our competition will be held in Battelle Hall at the Convention Center. Admission to the competition is $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for student/seniors, children 6 and under are free. Admission is also free to children 10 and under if they are in a Halloween costume. Average parking charges in the downtown area are $7-$10.

The performance schedule has not been published as of yet. The schedule is still tentative so we do not have our actual practice or performance times but our competition session begins at
11:00 am with awards planned for @2:15 pm.

Once our performance time is published, we can determine our actual arrival time to the Convention Center.

After losing tonight's practice because of the gymnastics meet at Wildcard and travelling next Friday night, we need to make schedule changes for the upcoming week to prepare for the Columbus competition next weekend.

Updates as of 10/18/2006

Hello cheer team!

Thanks to all who helped with the Community Festival! The parade was fun for the girls to walk in and everyone loved our flag! We raised $167.25 with the 2 games and so far have raised $81.00 from the raffle tickets! I will have more raffle tickets if anyone is interested in taking some to sell! We also still have the $5 shopping tickets for Jefferson Mall on Sunday, Nov 12 so please take advantage of this last individual fundraiser!

If you are interested in a hotel room for the Vandy trip, Diane Sparks has made additional reservations under her name at the Comfort Inn, 2407 Brick Church Pike in Nashville. It is about 7 miles from Vanderbilt University and the cost is $61.70 per night. Please call Pat Taylor at Comfort Inn to make arrangements to get one of these rooms; the hotel # is 615-226-3300.

I should have more info by the end of this week about another competition on the weekend of 11/10-12. I will also have info to distribute on Friday night, 10/20 on the upcoming trip to Columbus.

I will also have more info by the end of this week on changes to the practice schedule. We are losing some valuable time with the upcoming events of Halloween on Tuesday, 10/31 and then 2 Friday nights because of travel to Columbus and Vandy.

Friday night plans at the h.s. game!

Don't forget to dress warm for the game Friday night - bring your blankets! The girls should have a great time cheering! Game time is 7:30 and we need to be there by 7:00.

We also have the oppportunity to do some fundraising at the game. I will bring a table, couple of chairs, money box, signs, etc. Several parents have agreed to bake cookies, brownies and we will sell them at the game. We could always use more - I'm sure everything will sell extremely well to the hungry fans!

Schedule Updates for weekend of 10/13/2006!

We will need to be at Fern Creek Stadium by 7:00 pm Friday night to prepare to cheer with the High School cheerleaders! It'll be a chilly night so dress warm and get ready to drink lots of hot chocolate! I think the girls will really enjoy the evening of cheering and a big thanks to Leigh for coordinating the opportunity with the high school team!

Our Friday night practice is moved to Saturday, 10/14/2006 from 6pm to 8pm at Wildcard so that we can enjoy the opportunity to cheer at the h.s. game.

Don't forget about the Community Festival at ValuMarket on Saturday. We have also been invited to participate in the parade as part of the festivities. The parade starts at Highview Park with a short walk to ValuMarket and we will need to be there between 11-11:30 to participate. Please let me know if you plan to bring your cheerleader.

I am researching multiple options for another competition on the weekend of 11/11-12/2006 and should have more info by this weekend so we can make a decision on which one we want to participate in.

UPDATES 10/07/2006

Hello Cheer Parents -


It was a beautiful day for Homecoming! The team did a great job of performing at half-time with lots of compliments from the spectators!

Upcoming Competition Info:
The Battle of the Bluegrass competition originally scheduled for 11/11/2006 has been moved to 01/20/2007 due to television coverage issues so we we will not be participating. There is another competition sponsored by Spirit Cheer on 11/12/2006 in Lexington that we could compete in. The entry fee would be @$40 per person. The other option is not to substitute with another competition in November, leaving us with the Vandy exhibition on 11/04/2006 and then the remaining JamFest competition the first weekend of December. Please let me know your thoughts on rescheduling another competition by Tuesday. If we decide to pursue the Spirit Cheer competition on 11/12/2006, we will have to register by Thursday, 11/12/2006.

Vandy vs. Florida exhibition
Coach Michele finally received the routine and packet info for the Vandy exhibition and the team will start practice this week. I will have more info this week for you but I do know that we now have to check-in at the stadium by 7:00 am on Saturday, 11/04/2006. You may want to consider leaving on Friday night instead of leaving Saturday morning (very, very early!). The girls will not be wearing our uniforms for this exhibition; they will need plain, black shorts ("Soffe" shorts will work the best with no writing or other imprints anywhere on the shorts).

JamFest
Our fees for the 12/02-12/03 competition will be due soon so I will ask Tammy to update everyone's account balances with the registration fees.

Picture Day
Pcitures for the competitive team will not be held next Saturday, 10/14 due to schedule conflicts with the Albers and the Community Festival. We will schedule another day for our pictures, probably on a Sunday afternoon. I will finalize the date with James and Tammy and pass that along as soon as it is confirmed.

Community Festival
We need helpers next Saturday, 10/14 to set up the booth by 9am and then to staff the booth from noon to 6 pm. Non-profit groups do not have to stay until the festival officially ends at 9 pm. Please let me or Leigh know what times you can assist.

Other Info:
Don't forget to turn in the misprinted uniform shell to me so they can be returned to Varsity.

If you have not already done so, please remit the $30 payment to Wildcard this week for the 2nd installment of the Friday night gym rental fee. Our 3rd and final payment installment will also be due soon. Wildcard has been generous with our fees and gym accessibility so I would not want the perception to be that we took advantage of their generosity or could jeopardize our business relationship. Please talk to Tom this week (964-4284) if you need to make payment arrangements specific to your situation.

We have also been invited to cheer with the Fern Creek High School cheerleaders this Friday, October 13 at their home game against Shelby County. If we participate, we will need to move our Wildcard Friday night practice to Saturday, Oct 14 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
